Refurbished Outdoor Bench

7 years ago, Nathan and I bought this gliding bench to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary. We were so excited to finally have a place to sit outside other than the back stoop of our little one-bedroom house. Over the years we spent many evenings rocking and listening to Pandora as we watched the fireflies glow in the yard. Fast forward to this summer and as you can see our glider is worn down and outdated. The stain has been chipping off and the red wood/hunter green metal had reached the limit of my style tolerance.
Of course I had dreams of purchasing or better yet having Nathan make me a rustic wood bench but the thought of the cost and cajoling I would have to undertake popped my bubble of excitement. So, after many changes in my stain it/paint it/color combo visions I finally settled on a classic black and bronze pairing. Have to say I absolutely love it and look forward to many more years gliding away on our patio!

Hope this is a trend for her future as my little DIY helper!

Here she is all glossy and new! Amazing what a little bronze spray paint, black latex paint and a healthy dose of confidence can do.

  1. It looked so hoary. Now who would have thought an old bench like that could turn into a sleek and glossy furniture, with just a spray of bronze and black paint? I hope it would take another 7 years or more before its new paint wears out. Thanks for sharing!
