Hello Blogworld!

Hello Blogworld! My name is JoElle Knight and I am the Fanciful Miser.
I am a woman who firmly believes creativity comes more abundantly to those without money! I mean, we have no choice, right!? Along with my passion to create beauty, I possess a dogged determination to do it while saving as many of my hard-earned pennies as possible.

Throughout this blog I will share ways to create a well-designed home, plan parties and transform junk on a shoe-string budget using some elbow grease, spray paint and a sense of humor.

I've dug in dumpsters, pulled castoffs out of alleys, even found treasure in an abandoned house - wouldn't recommend that little adventure.
Yes, I am one of those crazy people who not only gets up at the crack of dawn on Saturdays to yard sale I even have a yard sale app! If only I could have a penny for the number of times my husband has yelled at me not to bring any more "junk" in the house only to find it transformed a week-month-sometimes-year later into a thing of beauty. I have an obsession and need to infect others with it! That's where you come in.

Do you too look forward to large trash pick-up week, long for the glorious six months that makes up Yard Sale Season or have a crush on Krylon spray paint? If your answer is yes, then you've found a soul sister.

Stop by everyday to see transformations, junk gold and decorations on the cheap. You'll get to know me and my crafty, talented family - I didn't come by these excesses all on my own. I'll even share some of our favorite Baker-Motoux Family & Friends recipes. All of us strive to live lives full of craftiness, family and food.
Here's to building a life on a pile of junk!

  1. Hauling a huge antique dresser from the second story of a condemned house was a lot of fun. Stepping over rotted boards, on and through piles of trash....good times. It was in very sorry shape...but, today...it's beautiful. I'm sure you'll see a post of it at some point.

  2. True memories are made from what you build, make, and transform not bought. It's the find, how and where it was discovered. The adventure of changing something form what it seems to be now and back to what it once was in it's glory days. JoElle, you really have an eye for giving life to old discarded things and making wonder memories for the future. Coo does to you!
